Mirage™ Thermal ID Film is a patented, thin-film thermal reflective material used to mark emergency and public safety vehicles so they can be easily identified by air support units and thermal imaging systems in all weather conditions, day or night.
Standard roof markings are designed for visible light, which means they can be hard to see through thermal infrared cameras. Mirage™ works differently: by using a scientific process called cold-sky reflection, it reflects the apparent temperature of the sky when viewed from above, creating a high-contrast thermal signature that stands out clearly on thermal imaging equipment.
Mirage™ film alters how a vehicle’s roof appears to thermal imagers. Instead of showing the vehicle’s actual heat signature, Mirage™ reflects the cold sky, making the film appear exceptionally cold (black) relative to the vehicle surface (white) on a thermal infrared image.
